High School & Beyond Plan (Xello)

CHS HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND OVERVIEW

All students attending Curtis High School, in grades 8 through 12, are required to participate in the CHS High School & Beyond Program (HSBP), including students attending the Running Start program.  The CHS HSBP is designed to help high school students develop their college and career readiness goals while meeting Washington State graduation requirements.

The CHS High School & Beyond Program is beneficial to students because it helps them to plan for their future, develop their leadership skills, support their community, and create opportunities to be more competitive in the college selection process, as well as, the job market.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE CHS HIGH SCHOOL & BEYOND PLAN?
CHS students create a portfolio in a web-based program, Xello, to complete their HSBP graduation requirements. The requirements include two main components, College & Career Readiness and Volunteer Service:

  • COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS:  Students (grades 8-12) will complete tasks in Xello, a web-based planning portfolio, to assist in exploring and creating college and career readiness goals.

(Note, CHS switched College & Career readiness platforms from Career Cruising to Xello.  Students can access Xello by logging into their UPSD Google Account/Gmail and clicking the Xello direct link in the google waffle.)

  • VOLUNTEER SERVICE:  Students (grades 9-12) will complete volunteer service hours and record their hours in Xello. Minimum volunteer service hours requirements each school year:  5 hours during 9th Grade, 10 hours during 10th Grade, 15 Hours during 11th Grade, 20 Hours during 12th Grade. (Due to Covid-19, the volunteer requirement is currently under review by UPSD.)

(Note, CHS switched volunteer service platforms from x2vol to Xello.  Students can access Xello by logging into their UPSD Google Account/Gmail and clicking the Xello direct link in the google waffle.)
